What's going on everybody, welcome back to the Art Shack! This time I have a drawing tutorial on how to draw realistic crashing waves in the ocean. The beach and ocean has always been a big part of my life so I had a great time sharing this experience with all of you.

I started this drawing by using a photo reference to get down the general wave shape and the basic shading of the sky. Once I had this basic detail down, I put the photo away and just took it from there. I always like to do some or most of the drawing from imagination or memory. It helps to add some uniqueness to it as well as my own style.

When I start a new landscape, I will usually sketch out the basic shapes of everything I want to see in a drawing and once that is done, I will usually go in for the sky.

This time I made a lighter sky which I eventually went back into and made darker. I kept it simple. I pretty much shaded the whole thing in and then erased out some clouds. I didn't want to make a detailed cloudy sky because I did not want the clouds to be a major element to this drawing. I decided to have them less detailed than what I would usually do.

When starting the wave, I had an idea of how it was going to look. I knew that there was a part of the wave that was crashing over and mapped that portion out. I also left that area untouched as I was shading in the rest of the wave.

I started the wave with a light pencil. I shaded it in with an HB pencil quite a few times then blending it out. I did this process over and over until I got the wave dark enough. I wanted the large wave to be considerably darker than the sky so that the white foam and mist of the wave would really show up. When adding in details for the wave, I made sure to follow the flow and direction of the wave. Doing this helps to define the movement and shape of the wave. Making lines in a different direction would have taken away from this effect. I went in as dark as a 4B pencil and used that to add in the final detailed line work.

For the mist and foam of the wave. I used the dirty blending stump and went back in with that. I rubbed the excess graphite from that onto the foam section of the wave. I then used an eraser and erased in a motion flowing backwards making the wind look like it was hitting the wave straight on. This helps to create the perfect wave for surfers. I used a few tools to erase out the waves. One was a large white eraser. I also used a mechanical eraser. The final piece that I used was an electric eraser to really get up the darker portions to make them highlights.

Once the main wave was done. the only portion left was the smaller wave that I added in. It took the same steps as the first wave except on a smaller scale.

In this video I show you the basics of how to sketch out the scene. I start out by showing a grid to help line up all the objects with better accuracy. The paper I am using is 6 1/4 inches by 10 inches. I use the paper horizontally so the vertical lines fall at 2 1/2 inches 5 inches and 7.5 inches dividing the page into thirds. The horizontal line falls 3.1/2 inches from the top of the page making the line below center.

These lines help with the accuracy of line placement of the objects of the drawing. This method is great for drawing from a reference image. Just make sure that the lines you create can be easily erased.

Before I made this last part, I spent a lot of time just looking over the entire drawing seeing what needed to be added. After spending the time and asking some others. I came to the conclusion that everything looked great except for the background. It got lost in all the foreground details so I wanted to go back in and make it more pronounced to help it stand out.

In doing this, I used a light pencil for the very background mountains. I wanted to make them the lightest and have each mountain closer get darker and darker. So going through the pencils I did exactly that. I wasn't too worried about the detail or texture for these mountains because they are quite far away. So after playing around with different tones and slight texture, I arrived to a point which looked nice. Which is where I will leave off this drawing.

Lets get back into things! I started this one off by adding in a sky in the background to get that out of the way. I didn't want to add in too much of a sky because a lot of the trees will be covering it up and I didn't want to have them compete against the sky for attention. So, I just decided to leave the sky a tone of gray. I mainly used a blending stump to smooth things around to get it nice and smooth.

I also decided to get some of the far background details in place so that I can get an idea of how those will look against everything else. I still might add a bit more detail to them later on but for now, they will be just fine.

Like I had mentioned before, I am going for a pattern in my values and tones. The background will be light while the middle ground will be very dark. Then it goes back to light again for that large tree in the foreground. So I began with adding in some tones everywhere for a fairly even coating. I also made sure to start adding in some shadows where I know they might come in. When shading, start out light and keep building on top of it. It helps to build up a bit of depth and you can also really set in how dark you want everything to be.

Летом этого года состоялась поездка на завод Фестул. Это было международное мероприятие, где нам рассказывали об инструменте, дали им поработать и показали производство.
Инструмент Festool - один из лучших инструментов для профессионалов. Основные направления - деревообработка и отделочные работы. Нам показали как новинки инструмента, так и модели, завоевавшие популярность много лет назад.
В этой части рассмотрены такие темы, как шлифование, фрезерование, пиление. Мы рассмотрели такие инструменты, как фрезеры OF 1010, OF 2200, шлифмашина ETS, ротекс (rotex), дюплекс (duplex), планекс (planex), циркулярная пила HK (циркулярка), которая может работать и как погружная пила, цепная пила, дюбельный фрезер домино DF 500 и DF 700, машина для наклейки кромки контуро (conturo). Рассматривался как столярный инструмент, так и плотницкий инструмент.
Спектр производимого инструмента таков, что им может быть полностью укомплектована любая столярная мастерская, производящая мебель или другие предметы интерьера.

As you can probably see, making cutting boards takes me many days during the week to actually get through each step of the process. During this vlog, I wanted to talk about cutting board terminology to the orientation of the wood while it is in an end grain cutting board and why it is beneficial to your knives for long term use. This is due to the fibers of the wood standing straight up and down. This allows for the fibers to separate to "accept" the blade much more than a glass cutting board or anything else that is hard. By the way, don't use glass cutting boards. They will literally bend your blades.

Throughout the rest of the video, I take the time to cut up the panels into smaller strips, these are then what are glued up into the final end grain form.

Hey everyone! I decided to do some late night drawing and Merrill decided to also join me. You can check out his channel. He has tons of videos.

In this video, I did not really know what to draw at all so I just decided to go for some random line work. That line work eventually became a landscape with some large cliffs in it. After which quickly became popular with the audience because they were suggesting all different types of celebrities and characters that I should draw jumping off the cliffs to their death. I had a great time with this one and will continue to do these live hangouts.

And Merrill decided to draw a squirrel with a jetpack.... Epic!
