In this time lapse painting demonstration I show you how to paint a surreal forest spilling out onto the wooden shelf of a second scene with a tree, candle, birds and some other trinkets. I painted this in January of 2013.
It was painted in oil paint (Winsor & Newton) over acrylic (liquitex basics) and air brushing (an Iwata airbrush and createx paint) /mixed media on a 24"x30" canvas.

Today I'm working in Derwent Inktense to create this African Elephant. If you've not used Inktense, they are a water soluble ink available in blocks or pencils.

These are not watercolor, but they can get a similar look. Unlike watercolor these are permanent when dry so you can glaze much like you would with acrylics.

As someone who has never enjoyed working in markers, I expected these Winsor & Newton Pigment Markers to be no different. WOW was I wrong! These lightfast markers blend almost like paint. I'm sharing my first impressions of these markers and giving you a lesson on some of the ways you can use them for blending, shading and detail.
