Quick sketch of a nautical star with a tribal design.. I show the process I take when drawing stars and this rough design will be drawn out again later but nice and neat and added to my tattoo design gallery at http://www.tattoowoo.com
The thing to keep in mind when drawing stars is you first need to draw out a circle and then you need to split it into five points, (or 5 sections, 72 degrees apart) In the vid I quickly show how you can sketch out a nautical star without using a compass and towards the end of the video I drew in a tribal design for the background.
If your new to drawing and want to improve as an artist I wouldn't recommend using a compass, I would suggest you practice drawing circles and lines.. But of course if you want to use a compass and a ruler then by all means do so..

How to draw an angelfish in a tribal tattoo design style.
You will see me first draft out the angelfish, and then once I'm happy with it I then start to add tribal shapes within the angelfish creating a tribal abstract image.
