В любом языке есть некий набор атрибутов, по которым можно определить часть речи слова: окончания, артикли, частицы и т.д.. В английском все немного сложнее, ведь одно и то же слово может выступать и в роли существительного, и глагола, и даже прилагательного. Как, например, слово work - которое может быть и существительным - работа, и глаголом - работать, и выполнять роль прилагательного, как например, в словосочетании work process - рабочий процесс (или еще говорят workflow). Но в целом вроде бы все более-менее понятно. Однако, английскому языку все же найдется, чем вас удивить! Если вы видите в тексте знакомое слово must, не спешите сразу же причислять его к модальным глаголам, ведь, возможно перед вами существительное! А фразовый глагол может оказаться совсем не фразовым глаголом :) Узнайте в этом видео что это за слова и как их использовать в речи!

А знаете ли вы разницу в произношении звуков boss [ɑ] и bus [ʌ]?
На заметку: звук [ɑ] существует и в британском, и американском английском. Разница лишь в том, что одни и те же слова могут читаться по-разному в зависимости от варианта английского. Так, слова answer, ask, bath, dance, can't в британском будут произносится с [ɑ], а в американском - с [æ] . И в то же время, такие слова как lot, got, body в американском варианте будут читаться со звуком [ɑ], а в британском - с [ɒ] Так что будьте внимательны и всегда заглядывайте в словарь, чтобы уточнить произношение.
