Today I'm showing you how to draw dark hair in colored pencil. The full portrait will be up next week! I've got colored pencil tips and techniques showing you how to make the hair look realistic and how to blend the colors! I'm even showing you how to get the fine white lines in colored pencil!

In this tutorial I walk you through painting a black and white portrait in oil paint. As usual I'm using a Fredrix Blue Label canvas. I prefer these canvases because they are a polyflax/cotton blend that are triple primed for an ultra smooth surface, perfect for portraits and other fine detail work. Like all Fredrix canvases, they are extremely archival, important when you want your painting to last a lifetime.
