One Point Perspective has one dot on the horizon. This dot is called the Vanishing Point. All parallel lines going towards the horizon will go towards this vanishing point. For this drawing I used a 4B soft dark pencil and an eraser on watercolour paper, A4 in size. The drawing took about an hour. For this drawing of the City of London I use a pen and I start with drawing just a few London buildings and then let the drawing gradually evolve to draw all the buildings I can see, I draw some of the bridges that cross the Thames and draw the the City skyline.

How to Draw a Cityscape: A View From The Shard

See How To Draw M.C. Escher's "Amazing Hands" drawing, step by step.

Start by drawing your other hand holding a pencil as if it is starting a drawing. Look carefully and draw the sharp tip of the pencil first.

Only use tone on your drawing for the pencil and the fingers near the pencil and some shadow cast by the pencil and the hand. These tonal shaded areas need to look 3-D, but the other parts of the drawing need to look like flat lines on paper.

Let the first drawing of the hand become a simple line drawing by the time you draw your wrist.

Then turn your paper upside down and draw in the same way again, making sure you start by drawing the point of the second pencil at the end of the line drawing part of the first hand you drew.

To finish your second drawing of your hand make sure the line drawing of your wrist just touches the point of the drawing of the first pencil point you drew. If this does not fit, you can change the line so it does meet up and complete the illusion.

Learn How to Draw a Complex Celtic Knot in a simple way using grid paper and dots evenly spaced out. Pause the video at each stage. The pattern is symetrical, so once I had drawn out the first half I could just copy it for the second half. I hope you find this Celtic Knot design useful for your own drawings. Draw a Knight in Armour on Horseback, narrated step by step.

I use a 4B pencil, grey paper and a soft white pastel to create the metallic shin of the armour and also the soft texture of the white horse. I also draw a simple castle in the background.

There are many ways to draw a realistic eye. In this drawing I use a 4B pencil for this sketch. A soft pencil will have a range of tones from light to very dark, which is useful when drawing an eye that has many different graded tones.
