In this speed painting video I demonstrate how I painted a greyhound. My focus on this piece was dramatic lighting. My underpainting is completed using acrylic paint (liquitex basics) before I move onto oil paint (winsor and newton).

In this time lapse painting video I demonstrate how to paint a barn owl against a wood grain fence. This was completed in July of 2013.
It was painted in oil paint (winsor & newton) over acrylic (liquitex basics) on an 11x14" Fredrix Blue Lable canvas. The original is available on my site at http://www.lachri.com/gallery/originals.html

Today's art question is "I would never think of reproducing or taking credit for anyone else's work. I do print out images which have features I want in my image. As I improve I am getting better at simply viewing them quickly without having to keep them around. My work always ends up as my own so is it right to view these images as a reference while I'm working on mine?"

This video covers some basic techniques used in blending colored pencils. I show you how you can use the prismacolor colorless blenders, the Derwent colorless blender, the Derwent burnisher, and paint thinner.
