You spend all afternoon planting tons of flowers and even a small garden. And just in time, too - today, you have your five year old niece to watch. You follow her into the backyard as she runs out to play. First, she runs to a patch of flowers and yells back in Filipino, "LOOOK! Bees are on the flowers!" Thinking she has been hurt or something is wrong, you run over to the patch of flowers and stare blankly into the beautiful blooms. Meanwhile, your niece has move on to bigger things - at the gate to the yard, she yells back in Filipino, "OOOOHHH! An inchworm is on your fence!!" Trying desperately to keep up with her, she dashes off to your garden, yelling back in Filipino, "The ladybugs are everywhere!" Realizing at this point that she is not hurt (just excited), you ask in your best Filipino you can muster, "What are you so excited about honey? Please show me." She replies in Filipino, "Ha ha! I know Filipino better than you do!!!" Something tells you that you won't learn anything from her today!

You have absolutely no idea what to expect, but you could not be more excited either!! Your friend hands you a saddle and explains in Filipino, "Saddle up, your horse is running there in that field." Confused, you just stare at him. He laughs and points into the field and repeats the command in Filipino, rolling his eyes at you. Embarrassed, you saddle up and head out as soon as the sun peeks up over the horizon. Within minutes, your friend quietly exclaims in Filipino, "Be really still! Look, across that field...the deer are running and jumping...and the wolves over there are looking for food!" You strain your eyes trying to make out the images in the silvery sunlight, as if you knew what you were looking for. Again, he looks at you rolling his eyes and repeats what he said in Filipino. Only this time, he adds, "I thought you said you learned Filipino before you came here!" You snap back in Filipino, "How was I supposed to know I was going to need to talk about animals in Filipino?" Rolling his eyes once more and laughing, he replies in language, "This IS a vacation...isn't it??"
