What is youtubes place in art history?
Youtube is the early 21st century version of an art musuem. Its the new Louvre. I think that the most significant art of today is being posted on youtube and ill prove that at the end of this video. So, all great art is a reflection of the era in which it was created...I dont think that todays art will be done justice if it is housed in a museum building like the art of the past. There was a time when painting was the greatest visual technology in the world but it became less relevant with the inventions of photography and video. There was a big debate in contemporary art about whether painting was dead and I credit youtube for bringing painting and other forms of art back to life. The difference is performance. In todays art, the performance is more important than the final product and youtube gives artists an arena to perform and document their work to an audience that views a billion videos a day from around the world. Youtube viewers are the art curators of the 21st century. You do this when you favorite a video or rate it.......or subscribe to a channel. This is a much more democratic method than the past. So much of what we see in museums was decided by a relatively small group of individuals. Also, youtube is becoming a major patron for artists, although I think that this is happening by accident. I have seen a lot of artists become youtube partners........and that gives artists a financial alternative to the gallery system.

I want to end by restating my first point. The most significant art of the 21st century is being posted on youtube right now Click on these links to see what I mean.

Lets celebrate our progress in working towards a visual arts category on YouTube with a new contest. My goal whenever I hold a contest is to bring the art community together and highlight all of the insanely amazing art work that is on YouTube. I want to give talented artists the exposure that they deserve.

Last December, I held a contest called "Who is the most underrated artist on YouTube"? For that contest, I asked people to vote in the comments section of the video for who they consider to be the most underrated artist on YouTube. This contest got over 1000 comments and the winner of that contest, BarryPFinnegan2 got hooked up. The subscribership on his channel doubled from 500 to 1000 in less than a month.

I am still getting requests to repeat that contest so we are going to do it again. So welcome to Who is the most underrated artist on YouTube 2. Here are the very simple rules.

Question: What channel do you think is the most underrated visual arts channel on YouTube?

(We will define underrated as having less than 10,000 subscribers.)

To vote, simply write that channels name in the comments section of this video. That is all that you have to do. One week from today, I am going to tally up all of the comments and up votes, and I am going to do something special for the channel that gets the most votes.

Remember the whole point of this contest is for youtube artists to become more aware of each other. I recommend that you use the AWESOME new tool that youtube gave us called topic search. So YouTube gave us a new toy called Topics. I am linking to it in the video description because is a great resource to navigate the many genres of art uploaded to YouTube. Im going to use topics to prove a point. There are a LOT of artists on YouTube.



So this is our new toy, Youtube topics, we are going to do a search for art. And then we will learn that there are amount one million art videos on YouTube and these videos have a viewership in the billions. Lets compare the art results from YouTube topics and compare it with some other popular keywords. Art beats sports, basketball, education and even cosmetics in the total number of videos. Please note that two of these topics are specific categories already and I know that I speak for a LOT of people when I say that art should be next.

It makes me mad when I see a great artist with a small following. Contests like this one are designed to change things fast.

Sketching the letter D in a wild graffiti style. I first map out and design the letter, then once I'm happy with the general layout I then go around it using a sharpie pen. В новом выпуске Анализа от Valuetainment мы поговорим о масштабной экосистеме компании Tesla.


Сегодня у нас 2 ключевых пункта:

1. Фокусируясь на очевидном (в работе какой-то компании), Вы можете упустить что-то очень масштабное. Порой необходимо приоткрыть занавес, чтобы увидеть полную картину.

2. Зачастую новые компании выходят на рынок не ради создания новых товаров. Вместо этого, они пытаются создать новую экономику. И в случае с Илоном Маском, он так и сделал. И даже несколько раз.


Говоря о Tesla, все обычно видят только машины. Но это неверный подход. Вам нужно увидеть масштабную экосистему. Tesla – это энергия, а не машины. И с самого начала всё упиралось именно в область энергии.

Когда компания только начинала развиваться, на территории Америки уже стояли специальные электрозаправки для гибридных машин. Но Tesla запустила свою собственную сеть так называемых суперзарядок (Tesla Superchargers). В самых крупных городах США, а также в стратегически важных районах, вдоль ключевых магистралей страны. И Илон Маск разрешил всем водителям Tesla заряжать свои автомобили бесплатно.

После огромного успеха первых моделей электромобилей – Tesla Roadster, Model S и Model X – компания анонсировала новый вариант – Tesla Model 3, стоимостью около 35 тысяч долларов. И вскоре получила 4 сотни тысяч предзаказов на эту модель! Таким образом, у компании появился огромный спрос на сеть Tesla Superchargers, которую ожидало неминуемое расширение.

Параллельно с производством электромобилей, Tesla покупает энергетическую компанию SolarCity, и начинает заниматься производством аккумуляторов и батарей на специальном и огромном заводе Gigafactory 1, в штате Невада.

Один из таких аккумуляторов получает название Powerwall, и предназначается уже не для самих автомобилей Tesla, а для жилых помещений. А заряжается такой Powerwall либо от обычной сети, либо от солнечных панелей на крыше.

Теперь у потенциального клиента компании дома стоит Powerwall, который, возможно, заряжается от местной энергокомпании по вечерам и ночам (а в США есть специальные ночные «тарифы» на бесплатную электроэнергию), а также специальная домашняя зарядная станция (Tesla Wall Connector) для электромобиля любой доступной модели.

Но и это не всё. Илон Маск делает новый анонс – солнечная черепица (Tesla Solar Roof). Уже не те старые, громоздкие и чёрные солнечные панели, а настоящая, аккуратная и сверхпрочная черепица. В испанском или любом другом стиле, на любой вкус и цвет.

Теперь Вы покрываете крышу такой черепицей, и она заряжает Ваш домашний Powerwall (для распределения энергии дома) или Wall Connector (для подзарядки автомобиля).

И каков результат? Никаких больше выбросов углерода. Вы абсолютно carbon neutral.

Конечно, все это требует серьезных затрат. По крайней мере, в настоящей действительности. Но нельзя отрицать, что компания Tesla преследует очень благородную цель. И создаёт новую энергетическую инфраструктуру. Да, у них есть крутые машины, но что гораздо важнее – энергия.

Tesla – это новатор, подрывающий индустрию, который сперва «продал» нам идею электромобилей; затем –
зарядные станции (целую сеть сервисных центров и суперзарядок по всей территории США); и, наконец, солнечные панели для крыши.
