Learn Finnish with FinnishPod101.com! Today your Finnish friend has a special treat for you. He is taking you out on horseback to see some of the country up close! You have absolutely no idea what to expect, but you could not be more excited either!! Your friend hands you a saddle and explains in Finnish, "Saddle up, your horse is running there in that field." Confused, you just stare at him. He laughs and points into the field and repeats the command in Finnish, rolling his eyes at you. Embarrassed, you saddle up and head out as soon as the sun peeks up over the horizon. Within minutes, your friend quietly exclaims in Finnish, "Be really still! Look, across that field...the deer are running and jumping...and the wolves over there are looking for food!" You strain your eyes trying to make out the images in the silvery sunlight, as if you knew what you were looking for. Again, he looks at you rolling his eyes and repeats what he said in Finnish. Only this time, he adds, "I thought you said you learned Finnish before you came here!" You snap back in Finnish, "How was I supposed to know I was going to need to talk about animals in Finnish?" Rolling his eyes once more and laughing, he replies in language, "This IS a vacation...isn't it??"

You have finally arrived at your destination, and while others might be happy with "normal" sightseeing tours, you want to experience EVERYTHING this place has to offer! On today's agenda - the zoo! You can't wait to see how different the zoo might be from the one back home you have seen since you were two. As you walk through the zoo, you overhear people chatting about the animals in Finnish. A lady looking at the monkeys says excitedly in Finnish, "Look honey! The monkeys are eating ants with a stick!" You rush over to the monkeys; you have only seen them use tools on TV! How exciting! Moments later, you hear a man telling his son in Finnish, "Look at what that baby elephant is doing!" Excited to see something new again (and feeling a little like a kid again), you rush to the elephants where you see the baby throwing dirt all around him. How cute is that? Throughout the day, you witness amazing things from wild animals that you have never seen before! And none of this would be possible if you hadn't learned Finnish. This was definitely a great idea! Good thing you came prepared!
