This is a drawing I did on christmas eve using oil pastels. This video shows you how I drew the picture from start to finish.

This picture took me about an hour and a half to draw. It was done by Sennelier oil pastels.

I decided to draw a holiday edition drawing for all of my fans of youtube. This drawing is done in a very Bob Ross style. He is one of my favorite painters and love his style. I have never done a painting at night before and wanted to give it a shot.

I started this drawing off by making an outline for where the mountains would be placed. From there, I made a transition from light blue all the way to black for the sky. Towards the end of the drawing, I added in some stars to give it an extra appeal to it.

I right after started to fill in the mountains. I used a white color for the lighter side of the picture, and a lighter blue color for the shadow side of the mountain. I find that after a fresh snowfall and a bright moon, that the landscape is lit up very bright. So i replicated this as best as I could.

After shading in the mountains, I went back in and added in some black to indicate some rocks and little things like that. I added more of these towards the base of the mountain. I then used a blending stump and started to blend out the base of the mountains to create a layer of mist. This helps to give a nice transition from the mountains to the tree line.

I added in the tree line just by simply using up and down like strokes with black and then green for the tops of the trees. I also added in more trees below the tree line and they would later become a reflection in the water. As the tree line came closer and closer to the picture plane, I made some trees larger and put snow on the branches to indicate a fresh snow fall. For the waters reflection, I used the same colors I did for the sky. I started off with the reflection of the trees and working our way towards the picture plane, I added in a lighter blue that went all the way to a very dark blue and eventually black.

I added in some snow banks at the edge of the river and put some snow on them. I carried the black water all the way up to the picture plane. and added some water marks into it to make it look like it was moving. I also added in some stars reflecting into the water.

Hey Everyone! Welcome back! In this video, I decided to let my audience fully decide what I should draw. During the hangout when I decided to switch from that cliff drawing to this one, I asked my audience what they would like to see me draw. They commented left and right and I got so many suggestions and really, all of them gave me such great ideas.

The suggestion that came up the most was a post apocalyptic city type drawing. When I heard that one, I got many ideas. The hardest part is creating the initial composition. But once you have a simple idea, it starts to build on top of itself and before you know it, a composition begins to unfold right on the page. That is my favorite part of the drawing. It is the part where I can use my drawing abilities best and create something out of my head. That is my favorite way to do a drawing.

Once the initial composition is completed, it is just about adding details and shading. But really, once you have the composition and basic shading down, the image does not change much from there. It is just about adding in the smaller details that makes the image more appealing to the eye. But once you do start adding details into the image, you can start to get a feel for how things going to look in the end and based from that you can always add in more details and objects.

In this video I show you the basics of how to sketch out the scene. I start out by showing a grid to help line up all the objects with better accuracy. The paper I am using is 6 1/4 inches by 10 inches. I use the paper horizontally so the vertical lines fall at 2 1/2 inches 5 inches and 7.5 inches dividing the page into thirds. The horizontal line falls 3.1/2 inches from the top of the page making the line below center.

These lines help with the accuracy of line placement of the objects of the drawing. This method is great for drawing from a reference image. Just make sure that the lines you create can be easily erased.

In this video, I will cover how to detail and texture the large tree in the foreground of the drawing. This is a very similar method to how I added the details for the other trees in the drawing. This time, I will be adding more volume to the detail because the tree is much closer to the viewer. Because of that, I want to add in more details to really make it pop. Later on in the drawing, I also go back into different areas and begin to add in details to try and get some of the finishing touches going. Next video, I will be covering the final touches to the drawing.
