The first step is to draw a horizontal line halfway up your page, next draw a across in the middle of the horizon line. This will be the vanishing point for this 1-point perspective drawing. All parallel lines going towards the vanishing point will look like they meet at the vanishing point, if you extended the lines all the way to the horizon.

The Penrose Triangle is an illusion of a 3-D shape on a 2-D surface. It is an impossible shape in 3-D. Our mind tries to interpret it as a three-dimensional object in space, rather than interpreting it as a two-dimensional object drawn on the paper.

We tend to believe what we see, unless there is information to make us doubt our visual information.

In this drawing tutorial I show you step by step how to draw a glass of water with ice cubes:

Step 1: Draw an ellipse, a squashed circle

Step 2: Draw the sides of the glass

Step 3: Draw some more ellipses for the glass

Step 4: Draw two cubes in the glass, at angles

Step 5: Draw an ellipse for the top line of water

Step 6: Draw some smaller reflections and shapes in the glass

Step 7: Draw some dark tone, some shading

Step 8: Draw some mid-tone, some lighter tone

Step 9: Draw the smallest details, bubbles of air in the water

Step 10: Add a shadow

For this drawing I used grey paper, a 4B pencil and, at the end, a soft white pastel.

Learn how to draw the Penrose Staircase, an impossible shape in 3D, but can be drawn in 2D!

In the Penrose Staircase the stairs look like they always go up in an endless circle, which is impossible in 3D. The trick is to draw the corners of the stairs so they always look like they are going up.

Learn to draw this optical illusion developed by Roger Penrose and made famous by the artist, M.C.Escher in his lithograph from 1960, Ascending and Descending. The Penrose Stairs are similar to the Penrose Triangle, another impossible shape by Roger Penrose, the famous British Mathematical Physicist.

For this drawing of a building, based on the Amber Fort in india, in dramatic 3-Point Perspective, from a worm's eye perspective point of view, I used a 2B pencil. The horizon is low down, with 2-point perspective and then the third point is at the top of the drawing.

How to Draw a Hole in Line Paper Step by Step:

Step 1: Draw a series of lines for the lined paper.

Step 2: Draw a cross in the corner of your page.

Step 3: Draw Draw a rectangle and erase the lines within it.

Step 4: Draw lines from the far edge of the rectangle towards the cross.

Step 5: Draw a base of a boat and add a very long sail, using the cross as a starting point for the mast.

Step 6: Make the original lines pen lines, use black or blue and add some tonal values.

View the anamorphic drawing from the cross, at a low angle.

For this drawing I use some pens and a 4B pencil.
