Today's question asks what type of pencils I use when I sketch out my subjects for my paintings. The answer completely depends on the medium I'm working in. I use something different for oils, acrylics and even inktense.

Today I'm going to walk you through everything from the supplies I use, to how I blend my paint and even show you how to complete your first oil painting using glazing techniques!
Oil painting has this reputation for being a more advanced medium to work in. People think it's going to be too hard and everyone's heard about the trouble with muddy colors. I will let you in on a little secret; Oil painting is one of the easier mediums to work in IF you know how to use mixing medium and when to let your paint dry between layers.

I am asked so often if I feel we need to go to art school to become a professional artist. First, I should point out that I am self-taught, so I am proof that you don't need to take art in college to be an artist. Really, though, the decision to go to college for art is going to be a very personal decision that will have many factors that you want to consider.

In this time lapse painting demonstration, I show you how to paint clouds in acrylic paint. I'm using an airbrush to mist water over the surface to keep my paint wet long enough to allow time for wet into wet blending. I'm using liquitex basics in this demo.
