In this time lapse painting I did something quite different. I used one canvas and recorded painting the changing seasons. This was a very quick and rough test painting for a future more detailed project. I needed to find out what to expect before I started the "good" version.
It was painted in acrylic (liquitex basics) 11"x14" Fredrix watercolor paint board. Thanks to Fredrix for providing me with the canvas.

Is black paper a good choice for colored pencils? I'm sharing some of the pros and cons and tips for working on this type of surface. I've got tips on blending with odorless mineral spirits (OMS) and the types of pencils I like best for this sort of work. Join me while I draw my pelican! In this speed painting demonstration I show you how I completed this mixed media painting of an phalaenopsis orchid with a chickadee bird and a sparrow. I wrote out sheet music and glued it to the canvas before painting around it in Acrylic. This painting was completed in December of 2011
It was painted in acrylic (liquitex basics) on two canvases totaling 12" x 24".
