The only quality family time you have is around the breakfast table. You have all agreed to speak Finnish during this time to ease your way into society. He answers in Finnish, "She is brushing her teeth and washing her face." You are starving and really wish everyone would hurry up. You ask your father in Finnish, "Where is my little brother this morning?" In an annoyed tone, he answers in Finnish, "He is still in his bed waking up." Nice. You stare at your father for just a moment, trying to convey how hungry you are in your stare. Finally, he tells you in Finnish, "Oh go ahead! Eat breakfast!" Looks like you have broken this daily routine!

As part of your Finnish "Forest Animal" unit, today your class is taking a walk through the forest to gather information for a report you will have as homework tonight. Your teacher hands out a list of "things to look out for" - written entirely in Finnish! Not being able to make out some of the Finnish words on the list, you try to partner up with someone, but everyone seems to have turned it into a competition to see who can find things first. Suddenly, a classmate screams out in Finnish, "I found one!! Look, that raccoon is cracking and munching peanuts!" Finding nothing as the group moves on quickly, you jot down as much as you can remember - you will just have to look it up when you get home. Ugh. You are startled as another classmate cries out in Finnish, "I know what the eagle eats! It's swooping down for fish!" Your fellow classmates cry out in unison, "Ahhh!!" as you again jot down the Finnish words you do not recognize. It's too bad you can't enjoy this hike through the beautiful forest. But what's worse is that before you can even BEGIN your report tonight, you have to find out what all this even means!!!
